COOLHAVEN + ROOIE WAAS + HET FLUWELEN KOORD + SHHT
For the opening of the new cultural season WORM’s Avantgardistic State will open its doors again. Enjoy everything we have to offer and lose yourself in a state of love. Rotterdam’s celebrated dada-pop act Coolhaven will present their new release, ‘Rode Pruik’, a 10inch album that boasts artwork (a comic book in fact) by former Rondo’s/Ex singer Johannes vd Weert. “The reworking is done with a Gabber feel, which suited those songs like a glove… as they say…”. Vervolgens schudt de eigenzinnige Amsterdamse anti-synthpop formatie Rooie Waas de zaal los met stevige ritmes, dwarse synths en pittige teksten. Kan er op gedanst worden? Dat moet jij zelf maar bepalen. Een ding is zeker: ‘Het moet wel leuk blijven’. Daarnaast is er het Fluwelen Koord. Belgium’s premier exponents of “flan pop” [sic!]. A lofi Membranes covering PiL songs?? Could be, officer… And last but not least Shht, the night’s “underlying Belgian vibe” [your fired – Ed] is highlighted further with Ghent’s Shht who play a sort of weirdo pop much beloved of those ten zuiden ter grenzen.
