Performative reading: Slow Reading Club

Start 8 pm — In the context of MAMA’s exhibition Smeared States they invited Slow Reading Club to perform a new choreographed reading session. During Kunstavond XL, which takes place from 20:00-00.00, Bryana Fritz and Henry Andersen are leading a four-hour reading performance that responds to the exhibition theme of mimicry as a rejection of what is considered natural and a strategy for co-option, self-erasure, corruption and appropriation. For this relaxing evening the Slow Reading Club curated a series of text excerpts and developed a reading protocol around them. Together with you they’ll turn the often passive act of reading into an active and sometimes alluringly physical activity. Let go of your inhibitions and the ever present facade of busyness that society demands of us; without a worry in the world, let yourself be led through intimate choreographies of reading.
